Francis Lawrence (‘The Long Walk’) is eyeing to direct the supernatural thriller ‘Carry Me to My Grave’, based on Christopher Golden’s novel.
Francis Lawrence (The Long Walk) is eyeing to direct supernatural thriller Carry Me to My Grave for Lionsgate, reports Deadline. The project was acquired specifically for Lawrence as part of his first-look deal with the studio.
Based on the novel by Christopher Golden (releasing July 21 via St. Martin’s Press), Carry Me to My Grave is “described as a supernatural thrill ride following a man trying to protect his dead mother’s body from the evil that is hunting it.”
Lawrence recently saw his film The Long Walk have success at the box office. It was one of my favorite films from last year, one that shocked, gutted, and absolutely broke me. Other genre credits include the cult favorite, Constantine, and I Am Legend, starring Will Smith.
Carry Me to My Grave marks just the latest novel of Golden’s set up for adaptation. Scott Derrickson is set to direct Road of Bones from a script by C. Robert Cargill (the team behind Sinister and The Black Phone). Meanwhile, Golden himself is adapting The House of Last Resort for Amazon and Outlier Society.
Producing are Lawrence, his partner Cameron Maconomy, plus Scott Glassgold and his 12:01 Films. Golden and Pete Donaldson will executive produce, with Meredith Wieck and Pavan Kalidindi overseeing the project for Lionsgate.
