Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls and Frankenbabes From Beyond the Grave director Andrew Bowser’s new horror feature, Turmoil in the Toybox, is now in its final Kickstarter push, with the filmmaker raising finishing funds to complete the movie and submit it to festivals. The campaign currently has just days remaining and is sitting near its funding goal.
The 63-minute film is based on the real 1980s Christian TV special The Deception of a Generation, which featured author Phil Phillips warning parents about toys and cartoons. Bowser reimagines those fears as a horror movie where “Pastor Phil” spirals into madness while monstrous toy-inspired creatures invade the story.
According to the Kickstarter page, funds will go toward visual effects, sound design, score work, legal fees, and festival submissions. Backers can receive perks including digital copies, Blu-rays, posters, merch, and producer-style rewards depending on pledge level.
Fans are also encouraged to watch the special promo video made for Dread Central featuring Pastor Phil directly asking viewers to help fund the project. Heh.
