Horror maven Maika Monroe (It Follows, Longlegs, Watcher) channels American Psycho‘s Patrick Bateman in Victorian Psycho, screening at the ongoing Cannes market before hitting theaters this fall from Bleeker Street.
Set in Victorian England, Victorian Psycho follows an eccentric governess who arrives at a remote gothic manor, where strange happenings stir suspicion that she’s not what she seems.
Directed by Zachary Wigon, the pic is based on Virginia Feito’s novel of the same name, with Feito adapting her own work.
Ahead of this fall’s release, the MPA has rated Victorian Psycho “R” for “strong bloody violence and brief sexual material.”
Ruth Wilson, Thomasin McKenzie (Last Night in Soho), Jason Isaacs (A Cure for Wellness, “White Lotus”), and Jacobi Jupe (The Exorcist) also star.
Victorian Psycho is produced by Dan Kagan (Longlegs) under his Traffic banner as well as Sebastien Raybaud (Greenland: Migration) for Anton and Wigon, in association with Anonymous Content.
The Gothic horror opens in theaters September 25, 2026.
