Shudder and IFC have acquired the rights to ‘Breeder’, a poodle breeding horror film that’s giving us ‘Tusk’ vibes.
IFC (The Independent Film Company) and Shudder have acquired the rights to poodle breeding horror film, Breeder, ahead of Tribeca, reports Variety this morning.
“The film is about an eccentric poodle breeder who lures a broke college student to her remote ranch with a promise of research funding. As he soon learns, there’s a catch.”
Anyone else getting Tusk vibes? Just me?
The film stars Daniel Doheny, Dot Marie Jones, Maddie Phillips, and Tanaya Beatty.
Alex Goyette wrote and directed, marking his debut feature.
Said Goyette, “Independent Film Company and Shudder have always been a dream home for us. We’re thrilled to partner with them to bring Breeder to audiences following its world premiere at Tribeca. As conversations around eugenics continue to resurface, our film confronts those ideas through the eyes of a deranged poodle breeder.”
Producers include Ian Start, Byron Ashley, Brian Mitchell, Chris Wilkinson, and K. Asher Levin. Executive producers are Jeremy Ross, Ronnie Exley, Steven Schneider, Ryan Marchant, and Tyson Call.
Breeder is set to world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 6th, followed by a theatrical release this fall.
