Naomi Ackie, star of ‘Blink Twice’, is in talks to join the long awaited sequel to ‘It Follows’, titled ‘They Follow’.
Naomi Ackie (pictured above in Blink Twice), is currently in talks to join the cast of David Robert Mitchell‘s They Follow, a sequel to his hit horror film, It Follows, reports Deadline.
At this time, there are no details on the plot, though the outlet notes it takes place a decade after the events of the first film and will see the return of star Maika Monroe (Longlegs).
It Follows remains one of my favorite horror films of the last decade or so. Fresh, engaging, and terribly frightening, the film made Maika Monroe a star and marked an exciting new voice in Mitchell. A sequel has been teased ever since. So, while expected, it still feels like a pinch me moment that it may actually happen soon…even if I’m a little unsure how you top the first one.
Ackie, meanwhile, has had quite the rise as of late. After appearing in Lady Macbeth in 2016, she recently starred in horror film Blink Twice, Mickey 17,Shelter, and I Love Boosters, a weird and wild piece of entertainment that just dropped in theaters.
Neon’s Tom Quinn is set to co-produce the film alongside Good Fear Content. Mitchell is also producing alongside Jake Weiner and Chris Bender of Good Fear Content, as well as It Follows alums David Kaplan, Erik Rommesmo, Rebecca Green and Laura Smith.
Shooting on They Follow is expected to begin sometime this summer.
Next up from Mitchell is The End of Oak Street, which looks like a whole lot of thrills and chills with dinosaurs.
