Peter Sarsgaard Joins Cast of ‘The Last of Us’ Season 3
HBO’s “The Last of Us” season three continues to fill out an ensemble cast, as ‘The Bride!’s’ Peter Sarsgaard is the latest to sign on.

Peter Sarsgaard (pictured above in The Bride!) is heading to the post-apocalypse, as Deadline reports that the two-time Emmy nominee has been cast in season 3 of HBO’s “The Last of Us“.
The outlet notes that Sarsgaard “is playing a new character not in the Naughty Dog video game the series is based on: Amon, one of the leaders of The Seraphites.”
Sarsgaard recently appeared in this year’s The Bride!, where he played a sympathetic detective burdened by guilt. He’s an actor who always carries with him a calm warmth but with something troubling behind his eyes, the sort of grey character personality that should make his role in “The Last of Us” pretty interesting.
Sarsgaard joins a growing ensemble that includes Li Jun Li, Michelle Mao, Kyriana Kratter, Jason Ritter and Patrick Wilson, along with Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, and Spencer Lord, who have been promoted to series regulars after recurring in Season 2. They join previously announced additions of Clea DuVall and Jorge Lendeborg Jr., the latter taking over the role of Manny.
Returning cast members include Kaitlyn Dever, Bella Ramsey, Isabella Merced, Gabriel Luna, and Jeffrey Wright.
This news comes as the series has paused with a mid-shoot hiatus. Nothing to worry about, though, as it sounds like this is only a break as a result of the FIFA World Cup, set to take place in Vancouver where the series is filming.
Based on the hit video game franchise and co-created by Craig Mazin and the game’s Neil Druckmann, the series is set in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by a fungal infection that transforms much of humanity into violent, infected creatures.
Season 3 is aiming for a premiere in 2027, and is rumored to be the final installment of the series.
