The erotic thriller is alive and well, as Warner Bros. is on board the psychosexual tale, ‘Exposure’, with Andy Muschietti ‘(IT’) producing.
I mentioned the other day that it felt as if the erotic thriller was having a major comeback ever since the success of The Housemaid (pictured above). Today provides more proof of that, as Deadline reports that psychosexual thriller Exposure has been snatched up by Warner Bros., based on a short story by Erika Vázquez & Siena Butterfield, who will also pen the script.
We don’t have any plot details at the time, though the outlet notes the film is billed as having themes of voyeurism and is set against a corporate backdrop.
Barbara and Andy Muschietti (IT) are behind the project as producers through their Double Dream banner. Jesse Ehrman and Cate Adams will oversee the project for Warner Bros.
Vázquez and Butterfield and worked as writers for both “CSI: Vegas” and the hit Netflix series, “Wednesday”. They also recently sold an erotic thriller spec dubbed Fixation.
As for the Muschiettis, horror fans are more than familiar with Andy’s take on Stephen King’s IT. The two recently wrapped season one of HBO Max’s “IT: Welcome to Derry”.
A new era of the erotic thriller is upon us, and it’s about damn time.
Stay tuned to Dread for more details on the project as we learn them.
