We finally have a look at the ‘Practical Magic 2’ trailer, displaying a heavy dose of sisterhood, darkness and curses.
The original Practical Magic released in 1998 and starred Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as witch sisters who face small-town prejudice and a curse that threatens their romantic lives. Despite the popularity of the film, it didn’t put a spell on the box office. I have to assume that’s why it took so long to finally get a sequel, but a sequel is on the way in Practical Magic 2, and today we have our first look at the trailer.
Practical Magic 2 reunites Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens, part of a multi-generational family of witches, cursed to be loveless for centuries, as they attempt to break a spell by confronting dark secrets and sacrificing for each other.
In the trailer, we see a heavy dose of the sisterhood thematic, with Bullock and Kidman fighting to protect their daughters and doing it together.
Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing reprise their roles, with the cast also including Lee Pace, Joey King, Maisie Williams, Xolo Maridueña and Solly McLeod.
Susanne Bier (Bird Box) directed the sequel, with Akiva Goldsman, co-writer of the original film, returning to write the script with Georgia Pritchett (“Succession”).
Producers are Bullock, Kidman, and the returning Denise Di Novi.
Practical Magic 2 casts a spell on theaters worldwide on September 11th via Warner Bros.
