Basketball can be deadly, it seems, as Imani Lewis (pictured above in Vampires vs. the Bronx) and Tanya Wright (“Orange Is the New Black”) have signed on to star in Killa, reports Deadline.
The pic is described as a “horror-drama”–just say horror–that “follows Asa Jones, a girl from Louisiana who wants to conquer the world of girls’ basketball. When Asa sees her shot at a college scholarship slipping away, she begins to lose herself to a captivating force.”
Laci Dent will write/direct the film, marking her debut feature.
Executive producers are Kareem Mortimer, Trevite Willis, and Julia Chatwin of Best Yet Entertainment, as well as Ellen Schmitt and Maggie Flatley of Brickyard VFX Studio. Morgan Bentz is also on as a producer.
Lewis appeared in the fun kids vs vampires Netflix movie, Vampires vs. the Bronx. Wright, meanwhile, made a killing on the show “True Blood” and also appeared in multiple episodes of the hit show “Orange Is the New Black”.
Killa is set to begin shooting in August.
