Disasterpeace Returning to Do Score for ‘They Follow’!
Disasterpeace created one of the greatest horror film scores of the last two decades for ‘It Follows’…now, he’s back for ‘They Follow’!

David Robert Mitchell‘s sophomore feature, It Follows, remains one of my favorite horror films of the last two decades. Unique, inspired, and terribly frightening, it had me walking out of the theater shaken. I don’t think I’d be alone in saying that film’s composer, Disasterpeace, has a lot to do with what makes it work so well. If you agree, then I have good news, because he’s set to return for scoring duties on Mitchell’s sequel, They Follow!
While speaking with Empire, Mitchell confirmed the return of many of the key collaborators from the first film. “Maika [Monroe] is back for this, and [cinematographer] Mike [Gioulakis], and the editor, Julio [C. Perez IV].”
All wonderful talents essential to the success of It Follows. But there’s more.
Added Mitchell, “Disasterpeace will be doing a score”.
Rejoice, fans of great scores.
Continued Mitchell, “I wouldn’t want to do a sequel without him. That first movie is so much to do with his fantastic music, so I’m excited about seeing what he does with this.”
As Empire notes, Disasterpeace, aka Richard Vreeland, also wrote the score for Mitchell’s mind-bending Under The Silver Lake, which sounds nothing like what he did for It Follows. The man is a truly gifted artist who had everyone like me running out to buy the It Follows soundtrack the moment it released. Whatever he does for They Follow, his presence alone already has my ears perked and ready for whatever synth masterpiece he’s about to unleash.
At this time, we don’t know much else about They Follow, other than shooting is expected to begin sometime this summer.
Next up from Mitchell is dinosaur pic, The End of Oak Street, stomping into theaters August 14th via Warner Bros.
