CONTROL Resonant is still a few months away, but Remedy Entertainment is already giving longtime fans a closer look at what’s waiting when the paranormal action game launches on September 24 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and later Mac.
In a newly released behind-the-scenes video, the studio breaks down five things returning Control fans should be excited about, while noting that Control Resonant is also designed to be “a perfect starting point for newcomers.”
The biggest reveal centers on the return of the Faden siblings. This time players step into the shoes of Dylan Faden, though Jesse Faden remains central to the story. Remedy explains that “Jesse still plays a very important role,” with Dylan leaving the Oldest House to search for his missing sister after “the biggest containment breach the Federal Bureau of Control has ever seen.” Reuniting the siblings will ultimately play a key role in stopping the paranormal forces consuming Manhattan.

The stakes are also much larger than anything seen in the original game. Rather than cleaning up isolated Altered World Events, players will face what Remedy describes as the first grand-scale AWE, with some of the Bureau’s most dangerous captives escaping into New York City. As the Hiss and the Mold spread through Manhattan, the Federal Bureau of Control finds itself overwhelmed and forced to rely on its former prisoner, Dylan, to fight back.
Combat receives several major upgrades as well. Returning abilities like Levitate are joined by new traversal powers, including Shift and Reach, alongside expanded skill trees that let players customize Dylan’s supernatural abilities. Remedy also teases a unique progression system, revealing that defeated Resonance bosses each offer multiple rewards, but “you can only select one per playthrough,” encouraging multiple runs.
