When Sébastien Vaniček stopped by Reddit for an AMA ahead of the release of Evil Dead Burn, one fan asked the question every longtime Evil Dead fan wanted answered: did Sam Raimi’s iconic 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 make it into the movie?
The director’s answer immediately kicked off a hunt among horror fans.
“The Oldsmobile, yes! We had it, we hid it in the movie, so you have to keep an eye open to see it,” Vaniček told fans.
For days after the film’s release, nobody could confidently identify where the famous car appeared. Fans combed through the movie looking for the classic Easter egg, but no screenshots, timestamps, or definitive answers surfaced.
That may have finally changed.
Over the past 48 hours, multiple Reddit discussions have independently landed on what appears to be the same conclusion. Rather than hiding the Delta 88 somewhere outside the cabin or in the background of a wide shot, several viewers now believe the car briefly appears inside one of the framed family photographs hanging on the wall during the film’s fiery finale. One fan noted spotting the Delta 88 “briefly in a photo in the living room scene when it’s on fire,” prompting another viewer to reply that it was “right next to the Bruce photo too.” In a separate discussion, another fan suggested they were “pretty sure the Delta 88 was next to it,” receiving the simple response, “It is.” You can read those discussions for yourself here.
Interestingly, fans were already circling that exact moment days earlier. Before anyone had reached a consensus, one viewer posted that they were convinced they had seen the Delta 88 inside “a burning family photo,” though nobody could verify it at the time. Looking back now, that early observation seems to line up almost perfectly with what multiple viewers are now describing.
