Lionsgate Limited set to bring viewers back down into the caves with ‘The Descent: Part 2’ on 4K for the first time in the U.S. this August.
Filmmaker Neil Marshall followed up his action-packed werewolf film Dog Soldiers with a terrifying, er, descent into darkness that would solidify him as one of the most exciting horror filmmakers at the time, The Descent. The film about a group of cavedivers who end up in a cave full of monsters was so well-received that a sequel arrived just a few years later in The Descent: Part 2. While not as good as the first, it’s a solid horror film, and Lionsgate Limited has announced they’re set to bring it to 4K for the first time in the U.S. this August!
The film follows Sarah Carter (with Shauna McDonald reprising the role) -dazed, bloodied, and speechless – as she emerges alone from the Appalachian cave system where the events of The Descent occurred. Forced back underground to help the rescue team search for her missing girlfriends, Sarah’s fractured memories begin to return, and she realizes the full horror of what lurks in the depths of the caves. But the rescue team is about to face a new tribe of deformed crawlers — even more viciously feral than those Sarah encountered before.
Natalie Mendoza, Douglas Hodge, Krysten Cummings, Gavan O’Herlihy, Josh Dallas, and Anna Skellern also star.
Jon Harris directed from a script by James McCarthy, J Blakeson, and James Watkins.
