‘Hollow’ – Sydney Sweeney to Star in ‘Sleepy Hollow’ Retelling for Sony!
Sydney Sweeney is set to star in a classic gothic tale, as she’s been cast in ‘Hollow’, a retelling of ‘Sleepy Hollow’!

Big news for fans of the classic The Legend of Sleepy Hollow tale this morning, as Deadline reports that Sydney Sweeney (pictured above in Immaculate) is set to star in a new take titled Hollow for Sony Pictures!
A reimagining of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, the story is told through the perspective of Katrina Van Tassel. Deadline notes, “reframing one of literature’s most iconic heroines, the novel positions Van Tassel not as a romantic prize, but as the central figure in a dangerous mystery and seductive supernatural love triangle.”
For those who maybe don’t recall, the original Sleepy Hollow was published by Washington Irving in the 1800s and follows Ichabod Crane, a man who happens upon the town of Sleepy Hollow, where a headless horseman wreaks havoc.
The tale is a bona fide classic, with multiple adaptations, including the 1999 endeavor Sleepy Hollow from Tim Burton (an underrated gothic Halloween treat, if you ask me).
The outlet also notes that the story “blends gothic atmosphere, psychological intrigue, and erotic thriller elements into a contemporary, high-concept reinvention of the classic tale.”
The project is based on Lindsey Anderson Beer‘s (Pet Sematary: Bloodlines) debut novel, which she will also direct and produce the adaptation.
LuckyChap and Sweeney’s Honey Trap banner are producing. Alexandra Banks and Spencer Walken will executive produce for Beer’s Lab Brew banner.
At this point, it seems Sweeney has found a comfortable home in horror, following roles in films like The Housemaid and Immaculate (which I still say has one of the more shocking endings of the last few years).
Beer’s novel is set to be published by Putnam, an imprint of Penguin Random House, in Fall 2027.
