‘The Nameless Ballad’ Heads to FrightFest for World Premiere [Images]

Italian filmmaker Federico Zampaglione is heading back to FrightFest.

The director behind Shadow and The Well will world premiere his latest horror film, The Nameless Ballad, at this year’s festival, with the screening set for Saturday, August 29, on FrightFest’s main screen.

The film stars Jamie Ward (His Dark Materials, Juliet & Romeo) as Sam Gallo, a 27-year-old British musician whose meteoric rise to fame is followed by a devastating creative collapse. Battling addiction to prescription drugs and desperate to write another hit album, Sam retreats to the Italian countryside where he spent his childhood. But what begins as a search for inspiration soon spirals into something far more sinister as mysterious supernatural forces begin feeding on his fears, grief, and obsession with creating.

Alana Boden (Mr. Selfridge, I Am Elizabeth Smart) co-stars as Sam’s partner, Tania, while the supporting cast includes Giglia Marra, Fabrizio Ferracane, Seumas Sargent, Reed Stokes, Mia Desando, Vincenzo De Michele, and Sergio Ceglie.

Written by Federico Zampaglione and Barbara Baraldi (Dylan Dog), The Nameless Ballad explores the fragile line between artistic inspiration and supernatural terror.

The Nameless Ballad is produced by SOMIC FILM, directed by Federico Zampaglione, and written by Zampaglione and Barbara Baraldi. Yuri Santurri serves as director of photography, with Minerva Pictures handling worldwide distribution.

Tubi FrightFest 2026 runs August 27 through August 31 at the ODEON Luxe Leicester Square and ODEON Luxe West End in London, showcasing some of the year’s biggest upcoming horror and fantasy films.
