Sony Pictures has officially set a release date for one of its most anticipated upcoming horror films.
JT Mollner‘s (Strange Darling) creature feature Skeletons will open exclusively in theaters on June 4, 2027.
Described as “a modern take on the creature horror film,” Skeletons follows a young boy who slowly begins to discover that his beloved parents are hiding a disturbing secret about his mother’s true nature.
The film stars Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Kyle Gallner (Strange Darling), John Goodman (10 Cloverfield Lane), Willa Fitzgerald (Strange Darling), Keith Carradine (Fargo), Ione Skye (the upcoming Anaconda), and Daithí Ó Haragáin (Trespasses).
Mollner is directing and rewriting a screenplay originally written by Brian Duffield (Whalefall), based on a short story by Philip Fracassi. The filmmaker most recently penned the screenplay for the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King‘s The Long Walk and continues his rise following the critical success of Strange Darling.
Skeletons is being produced by FilmNation Entertainment’s Infrared label alongside J.J. Abrams‘ Bad Robot Productions and Assemble Media.
