Another face is set to face the demons of ‘The Conjuring’ universe, as Matthias Schweighöfer has signed onto ‘The Conjuring: First Communion’
Another face has joined the Conjuring universe, as Deadline reports that Matthias Schweighöfer (pictured above in Army of the Dead) has signed on to Warner Bros. and New Line’s The Conjuring: First Communion.
Matthias joins Garrett Wareing (The Long Walk, Manifest) and Amanda Fix (Orphan Black: Echoes, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma) as a young Ed and Lorraine Warren, respectively.
It’s currently unclear whether Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will reprise their roles as the older versions of Ed and Lorraine Warren in some capacity.
Plot details for The Conjuring: First Communion remain under wraps. Rodrigue Huart will direct from a screenplay by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg.
At this point, the Conjuring Universe includes The Conjuring (2013; set 1971), Annabelle (2014; set 1967), The Conjuring 2 (2016; set 1977), Annabelle: Creation (2017; set 1943 and 1955), The Nun (2018; set 1952), The Curse of La Llorona (2019; set 1973), Annabelle Comes Home (2019; set 1972), The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021; set 1981), The Nun II (2023; set 1956), and The Conjuring: Last Rites (2025; set 1986).
Filming is currently underway on The Conjuring: First Communion.
As for Matthias, he’s also set to appear in the WWII thriller Play Dead from Jaume Collet-Serra.
