New Images From R-Rated ‘Clayface’ Get Extra Goopy
DC’s ‘Clayface’ is set to arrive just in time for Halloween this year, and we have some new images previewing the goopy title character.
Ever since watching the trailer for DC’s Clayface, I have been dying to see it. It looks exactly like the sort of dark, body-horror nightmare that the story demands. And today, we have a handful of new images from EW that give us a look at star Tom Rhys Harries before he’s afflicted with the terrible change that overtakes his body…and after.
It’s the DC universe’s first foray into R-rated horror — specifically, Peter Safran emphasizes, “the true body horror of a Cronenberg-type movie.
“It leans into horror and psychological thriller in a way that definitely differentiates it from more traditional superhero entries, while still being anchored in what I would say is a recognizable character.”
The studio figurehead adds, “We’re not just telling a villain story, but a real psychological unraveling.
Clayface tells the terrifying descent into hell of a promising Hollywood actor who has become a monster driven by revenge. An intense story that explores the loss of identity and humanity, the ravages of corrosive love, and the dark side of scientific ambition.
Harries adds: “We meet Matt at a real turning point in his career and then, very quickly, at a real turning point in his life,” he says. “It’s a horror, but it’s a thriller. It asks, How far would you go to reclaim your life that you’ve built?”
James Watkins (The Woman in Black, Speak No Evil) directed from a screenplay by horror maestro Mike Flanagan (The Exorcist, The Haunting of Hill House, Doctor Sleep) and Hossein Amini (Drive).
Max Minghella (Spiral: From the Book of Saw) and Naomi Ackie (Blink Twice) also star.
Clayface opens in theaters everywhere on October 23, 2026, right in the heart of the Halloween season.
