Netflix Adds ‘Child’s Play’ Films, ‘M3GAN’, ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’, and Tons More Horror This August

Netflix has unveiled its August lineup, and it’s shaping up to be a massive month for horror fans.

The biggest surprise arrives on August 1, when nearly the entire Child’s Play franchise slashes its way onto the service. While the original film isn’t included, subscribers will be able to stream Child’s Play 2, Child’s Play 3, Bride of Chucky, Seed of Chucky, Curse of Chucky, and Cult of Chucky, making it the perfect excuse for a Chucky marathon.

Also joining Netflix on August 1 is Anaconda—though Netflix hasn’t specified whether it’s the 1997 cult favorite or this year’s reimagining—as well as Nightcrawler, starring Jake Gyllenhaal as a morally bankrupt freelance crime videographer. If you’ve somehow never seen Nightcrawler, fix that immediately.

The horror continues on August 3 with Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, one of the year’s biggest horror hits and a sequel that’s sure to be a major draw for younger horror fans.

Netflix’s biggest original genre release of the month arrives on August 7 with The Last House. As we’ve previously reported, the survival thriller follows a family of four who suddenly find themselves sealed inside their home with no way out. As supplies dwindle, they must work together to survive while uncovering the mysterious force keeping them trapped.

On August 15, The Shallows washes ashore. Starring Blake Lively, the shark thriller remains one of the best survival horror films of the past decade, proving you don’t need an army of sharks to create edge-of-your-seat suspense. It’s worth the month’s subscription by itself.
