Johnny Depp Becomes Scrooge on First Poster for Ti West’s ‘Ebenezer’
Before he was scrooge, he was ‘Ebenezer’ in first poster for Ti West’s take on ‘A Christmas Carol’ starring Johnny Depp.
This November, we’ll get yet another new take on Charles Dickens’ classic 1843 novella A Christmas Carol in Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol, starring Johnny Depp (Sweeney Todd) as the titular character. And today, we have our look at the first poster, courtesy of Discussing Film on X, with Depp peeking up at us.
Directed by Ti West (X) from a script by Nathaniel Halpern, the “bold new twist” on the Dickens tale follows Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly businessman who is visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come, forcing him to confront his life and ultimately change his ways.
Rupert Grint, Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Charlie Murphy, Tramell Tillman, and Ian McKellen also star.
Emma Watts produced the film, while executive producers included David Reid, Adam Bohling, Stephen Deuters, Jason Forman, West, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, and Andrew Lary.
Personally, I’m not sure we need another version of A Christmas Carol (there are so many), but I must say, the fact that Ti West is behind this has me incredibly intrigued. Hopefully, the filmmaker will go all out on the scarier elements of Dickens’ classic.
