‘Obsession’ Star Michael Johnston in Talks to Join Radio Silence’s ‘Mummy’ Sequel
Michael Johnston is on the rise, and he could be set to join a massive horror franchise in Radio Silence’s ‘The Mummy’ sequel.
Michael Johnston may already be on his way to becoming a household name with his star role in the horror hit of the summer, Obsession. Following that success, the actor is already circling his next big role, and it sounds like it could be a doozy.
THR reports that Johnston is in early talks to join The Mummy sequel from Radio Silence. If it happens, the actor would join stars Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz for the fourth film in the franchise.
The fourth Mummy movie is directed by Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Ready or Not, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, Scream, V/H/S, Southbound) from a screenplay by David Coggeshall (The Family Plan, Orphan: First Kill).
William Sherak, James Vanderbilt and Paul Neinstein are producing through Project X Entertainment. In addition to starring in the movie, Fraser will serve as an executive producer alongside Hivemind’s Jason F. Brown and Denis Stewart.
Recently, I spoke with Johnston, whose previous genre credits include things like the Teen Wolf series and a voice performance in the Texas Chain Saw Massacre game. He’s an actor who clearly loves the genre. Now, he may have a chance to appear in a massive title supported by an ultra-talented cast and filmmakers. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Johnston. After watching him in Obsession, he’s an actor I want to see a lot more of. The Mummy sequel would be a tremendous start.
At this time, The Mummy is set to rise on Oct. 15, 2027.
