There are horror movies I love, and then there are the ones I never stop talking about. Demons 2 is firmly in that second category.
If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you already know how much I adore Lamberto Bava‘s 1986 sequel. It’s bigger, bloodier, weirder, and even more outrageous than the original. Set almost entirely inside a high-rise apartment building after demons emerge from a television broadcast, it’s an absolute blast of practical effects, body horror, and pure ’80s insanity. It may not get the same attention as the first film, but for a lot of fans – including me – it’s every bit as memorable.
Now Martin Cage, Pablo Valenzuela, and the team at Distinctive Dummies are paying tribute to one of the film’s most unforgettable moments with a brand-new 1/9-scale figure set featuring Sally Day and young Tommy in their demonic forms.
If you’ve seen Demons 2, these choices make perfect sense.
Sally is one of the film’s most tragic victims. After becoming infected, she transforms into one of the apartment complex’s increasingly savage demons, sporting one of the movie’s most striking makeups. Tommy’s transformation is just as unforgettable, as the young boy becomes possessed before one of the film’s signature creatures literally bursts from his body. That grotesque little demon has become one of Demons 2‘s defining images, and it’s included here alongside the figures.
Even better, the set also includes the possessed television featuring the screaming demonic face that serves as the catalyst for the outbreak, recreating one of the sequel’s most iconic visual gags.
According to Martin Cage, the figures go on sale August 3, with package art by Matt Jones. As always, the figures are sculpted by Pablo Valenzuela, whose work continues to define the Distinctive Dummies line, while Martin Cage once again handled the incredible paint applications. Like previous releases, these are handmade, custom-produced collectibles created in extremely limited numbers for collectors rather than mass-market retail.
