The stacked cast of Adam Egypt Mortimer’s supernatural horror ‘Pathetic Fallacy’ has wrapped, bringing us one step closet to the film.
I was a big fan of Adam Egypt Mortimer‘s trippy psychological horror flick, Daniel Isn’t Real. I’ve been waiting for his next horror film ever since. That time will come soon enough, with his supernatural thriller, Pathetic Fallacy, wrapping key members of the cast, as reported by Deadline.
The outlet notes that Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi (Ti West’s X trilogy), Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day), Travis Fimmel (Vikings) and Natasha Lyonne (Poker Face) have wrapped on the project.
The film “follows a young widower to a new-age mountain town in search of cosmic answers and a chance to heal. When he arrives, he instead finds an outlandish murderer and a forest of demonic spirits who offer a horrific bargain: the power to cheat death at a nightmarish cost.”
That is one hell of a cast supporting Kid Cudi in his first starring role. Rothe came on strong with her role as Tree in the Happy Death Day franchise, while Lyonne has been killing it with comedic and genre roles alike since the 90s. Consider me excited.
Mortimer directs from a script by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari (Ant-Man and the Wasp).
The film features an original score and music by Johnny Jewel and original songs by Cudi, who told Deadline, “This script gutted me. I’ve never read anything like it. It’s raw, it’s surreal, it’s heartbreaking, and it’s asking me to go places I’ve never gone as an actor. That’s terrifying and thrilling. I couldn’t walk away from it.”
Added Mortimer, “Bringing Andrew and Gabe’s horrific, tragic, funny script to life is a once in a lifetime project. Together, Kid Cudi and Jessica Rothe create an emotional world that’s a nightmare for their characters and a dream for me to direct. It was magical for us all to collaborate on epic song sequences with synth maestro Johnny Jewel. This is Cudi’s first starring role and what an honor to witness his deep commitment and courage to push his emotions to the brink.”
