Shudder is bringing the treats this Halloween, announcing that post-apocalyptic film ‘Hallowarrior’ arrives on the service this October.
Shudder is bringing some serious Halloween energy this October, announcing that the post-apocalyptic indie horror film Hallowarrior will land on the service that month.
Here’s the plot crunch: “Pumpkin (Milly Shapiro), a Halloween-obsessed post-apocalypse survivor, thinks she’s the last person alive. But when a vicious band of scavengers shows up at her doorstep, Pumpkin has no choice but to tap into her deadliest survival instincts.”
The film also stars Ajani Russell, AJ Bowen (The Signal, A Horrible Way to Die), and Shannyn Sossamon (Sinister 2, One Missed Call).
Ben Sottak wrote/directed the film.
“This is a throwback to the crowd-pleasing genre films I grew up watching every Halloween,” Sottak previously said. “The movie is dripping with nostalgic fall atmosphere, cheer-inducing kills, and a lovable ‘final girl’ played by the brilliant Milly Shapiro. I can’t wait for this movie to enter horror fans’ annual October viewing rotation for years to come.”
The film was produced by Sottak with Emmajane Hoffman and Gabriel Rosenstein.
In her review out of Tribeca, Dread’s Ashliene McMenamy wrote, “Equal parts coming-of-age story, post-apocalyptic thriller, and home invasion film, Hallowarrior captures the spirit of the holiday so effectively and with so much affection that I found myself wishing I could live inside its world long after the credits rolled.”
Trick or treat with Hallowarrior when it arrives on Shudder October 16th.
