Ari Aster may have found another star for his next film, ‘Scapegoat’, with Jacob Elordi in talks to join the project.
Jacob Elordi (pictured above in The Mortuary Collection) has become a hot name as of late, and he could be bringing that stardom to Ari Aster‘s (Hereditary) next film. Deadline reports that Elordi is in talks to star in Aster’s Scapegoat, alongside Scarlett Johansson (Under the Skin).
Per usual with Aster’s work, the film is blanketed in mystery, without any plot details at this time. The outlet notes, however, that some say “it’s about a doctor who operates on an internet-famous person. Others say it’s sci-fi romance, and some have said it’s more of a traditional drama for Aster.”
I first caught Elordi in the excellent horror anthology, The Mortuary Collection. I loved his sleazebag performance as a guy who becomes pregnant with an alien monster. So, it’s been great to see him earn some much-deserved fame as of late. The actor has since starred in titles such as the recent Wuthering Heights adaptation, as well as Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, where he delivered a performance of the creature that’s up there with the very best of them.
Next up from Elordi is Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars, in theaters on August 28th.
Aster and Lars Knudsen will produce Scapegoat through their Square Peg label.
A24 will distribute the film.
If all goes well, the plan is for Scapegoat to begin shooting later this year.
