Man is the warmest place to hide, but apparently it also makes for some pretty fucking cool clothes.
Rucking Fotten is heading straight to Outpost 31 for ANTARCTICA ’82, a new limited-edition capsule inspired by John Carpenter’sThe Thing, and there’s a whole lot here I suddenly need in my closet.
The collection has officially dropped, and as with Rucking Fotten’s other timed drops, you have just 72 hours, with pre-orders closing Sunday, August 16.
There are several T-shirts and long sleeves pulling from the movie’s grotesque practical effects, including a fantastic full-color shirt dominated by one of the film’s gnarly creatures. Other designs lean heavily into Japanese poster artwork and Carpenter’s iconic tagline, “The Ultimate in Alien Terror.”
But my favorite might be the absolutely insane all-over-print crewneck that turns one of The Thing’s most horrific creations into a gigantic black-and-white graphic swallowing almost the entire sweatshirt.
There’s also a vintage-style promo shirt, embroidered dad hat, and an Outpost 31 woven tapestry throw blanket featuring the cast gathered outside the U.S. Antarctica Research Program station.
Several pieces are extremely limited. The “Contamination” and “Solitude” variant shirts are limited to 125 each, while the embroidered “I Know I’m Human” hat is limited to just 100.
