‘Terrifier’s’ Jenna Kanell Joins Kevin Lewis’ Supernatural Horror ‘Mercy Good’ from Stoic Films [Exclusive]

Dread Central has exclusively learned this afternoon that Jenna Kanell (pictured above in Terrifier) has joined the supernatural horror film Mercy Good from Stoic Films and Kevin Lewis, the filmmaker behind Willy’s Wonderland!

Kanell will play Betty Putnam, a key figure in the film’s present-day story who becomes increasingly involved with a family confronting supernatural forces tied to Salem’s dark past.

The film is written and produced by Michael Caissie (Hangman, Hunter’s Moon) through his Stoic Films banner.

As Deadline previously reported, Stephen Lang (Avatar, Don’t Breathe) is also set to star in the film. He’ll play Henry Woodward, a respected local historian with knowledge of Salem’s dark past that could hold the key to the family’s terrifying ordeal.

Kanell is best known to horror audiences for starring as Tara Heyes in Damien Leone’s Terrifier, with additional acting and stunt credits including Renfield, Bad Boys: Ride or Die and The Bye Bye Man. In recent years, she has continued expanding her work behind the camera as a writer, producer and director. Kanell co-wrote, produced and starred in the feature Faceless After Dark, and wrote and directed Spray Bottle, executive produced by Jason Reitman. She can next be seen in the action film Tiger Bones, and the sci-fi thriller Stay on the Sunny Side, and is currently in post-production on her feature directorial debut, De Novo, which she also wrote.

“Jenna brings exactly the kind of energy I want around Mercy Good,” said Caissie. “Obviously, horror audiences know her from Terrifier, but what really impressed me is the filmmaker she is in her own right. She understands the genre from both sides of the camera, and there’s an intelligence and fearlessness to the way she approaches the work. I’m incredibly excited to have her joining what we’re building.”

The production team is also expanding, with Charles Huttinger joining as producer and Fitim Krasniqi and Fahri Krasniqi joining as executive producers alongside Monika Simeonova.
