‘Scream’ Stars Remember Hayden Panettiere: “You Will Be Forever Missed”
The passing of Hayden Panettiere came as a shock to many this past weekend. Here’s what some of her ‘Scream’ co-stars had to say.

The horror community and film industry as a whole suffered an incredible loss this past weekend. I was gutted to learn that Hayden Panettiere (pictured above in Scream VI) had passed away at the much too young age of 36.
Panettiere started acting as a child, appearing in multiple TV series and even lending her voice to A Bug’s Life in one of her first big roles. But it was Scream IV that made her an icon for many genre fans.
In that film, she played Kirby, a horror movie expert with a much more likeable personality than Randy (sorry, my guy). At one point, she receives a call from Ghost Face, only to go on a rant listing practically every horror movie remake of the last decade. It has become a fan-favorite moment. One so popular that it left fans begging for the franchise to bring Panettiere back. With Scream VI, that request was granted to applause heard round the world.
Panettiere became a cherished member of the Scream family. Since learning of her passing, many of the franchise’s stars have taken to social media to remember her.
David Arquette wrote simply, “I love you Hayden”.
On Instagram, Emma Roberts posted, “Rest in peace my sweet friend. You are so loved and you will be forever missed”.
Jenna Ortega also took to Instagram to write, “This is such a devastating loss. Rest well.”
On X, Jammie Kennedy wrote, “Such a sad, tragic loss for such a young, talented, beautiful woman. Rest in Peace Hayden. May God protect your soul. ScreamFam 4ever.”
Neve Campbell told USA Today, “I found Hayden to be really kind and funny and brought a magnetic energy to set. She was a true talent which shows in the decades she worked in such a short life. Her family and loved ones are in my prayers.”
