AI is here to slay.
Dread Central has the exclusive trailer and poster debut for Brainstorm Media’s C.O.G., a technology horror thriller about what happens when a tech company creates something much smarter, and considerably more murderous, than intended.
Formerly titled CognAItive, the film follows a tech startup on the verge of launching a powerful new AI chatbot that soon discovers its creation harbors a dark and sinister will of its own.
Directed by Tommy Savas and written by Angie Simms, C.O.G. stars Piper Curda, Noel Fisher, and Josh Zuckerman. The film comes from the people behind Reckless Tortuga and played FrightFest in London last year, where it received positive reviews.
Our own David Gelmini caught the film under its original title and had a blast with its increasingly ridiculous AI carnage, calling CognAItive “a very inventive and decidedly absurd look at what could happen if AI eventually does become self-aware.”
He added that the film “ultimately delivers a fun and brutal story of why technology should always be kept in check.”
In fact, both quotes made their way into the new trailer, which promises exactly the kind of crazy technology-gone-wrong horror you’d hope for, along with some surprisingly gnarly death sequences.
Brainstorm Media releases C.O.G. in theaters September 4, 2026, followed by On Demand September 25, 2026.
