Raccoon City General Hospital.
And, more importantly, buried right there on the paperwork:
“BILL DELIVERY CHARGES TO — UMBRELLA CORP.”
So while Cregger isn’t using Leon, Claire, Jill, Chris or the other characters fans already know from the games, this is very clearly Resident Evil. Bryan is a medical courier being sent into Raccoon City with biological material on Umbrella’s dime, and Cregger has previously explained that his story unfolds during the Raccoon City outbreak from a completely different perspective.
That distinction seems to keep getting lost in all the online arguing over Cregger telling an original story. He isn’t remaking one of the games beat-for-beat. He’s taking another character and dropping him into that world, complete with Umbrella, Raccoon City, infected dogs, biological experiments, familiar items, weapons, environments and the progression of the games themselves.
The all-new story follows Bryan (Austin Abrams), a medical courier who unwittingly finds himself in a nonstop race for survival as one horrifying night collapses around him in chaos.
Cregger directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Shay Hatten, with Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, and Paul Walter Hauser also starring.
Resident Evil infects theaters and IMAX on September 18, 2026.
