Samara Weaving to Star in Killer Wasp Movie ‘Hivemind’

Cue the Ready or Not meme of Samara Weaving smoking a cigarette, because she’s about to face an environmental disaster that deserves a good smoke.

Deadline reports that the actor will star in Hivemind, a killer wasp movie from Thunder Road and Badlands. Amazon MGM Studios has also boarded, with plans to stream the film on Prime Video.

The film “centers on the evolution of a new breed of killer wasps and the small-town authorities who team up to prevent a deadly global outbreak”.

Nicholas Braun (Succession) is also set to star.

Ciarán Foy (Citadel) will direct from a script by Peter Gaffney (Yeti).

Weaving was just announced as Emma Frost for Marvel’s upcoming X-Men movie, so it’s great to see her still taking on roles in the horror genre. From The Babysitter to the Ready or Not franchise and even a brief appearance in Scream VI, she’s become a fan favorite over the years. I will absolutely tune in to watch her take on killer wasps.

Let’s just hope this is better than the John Saxon flick, The Bees. Something tells me it will be.

Producers are Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee and Diarmaid McGrath for Thunder Road and Scott Strauss for Badlands, as well as Macdara Kelleher and John Keville for Wild Atlantic Pictures. Adam Rodin and Gaffney will also produce. Jon Shiffman and Andrew Schwartzberg are on as executive producers for Renegade Capital.

Hivemind is now filming in Dublin.
