‘Pendulum’ Trailer Pits Joseph Gordon-Levitt Against a Terrifying Supernatural Threat
Vertical has released a trailer for ‘Pendulum’, pitting Joseph Gordon-Levitt against a terrifying supernatural threat.

There is no such thing as death.
At least, not according to the trailer for Vertical’s supernatural horror film Pendulum.
The film follows young couple Patrick (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and Abigail (Phoebe Dynevor) on a journey to a new-age retreat in New Mexico, drawn by the possibility of recovering with the much-revered mystical healer Ella-Rose (Jacki Weaver) after going through a traumatic event.
Patrick is willing to do anything to help his wife but becomes distrustful of Ella-Rose even as Abigail falls under her spell. As paranoia builds, the couple must determine whether Ella-Rose’s intense spiritual practices offer genuine healing or mask a terrifying truth that threatens to consume them both.
The trailer oozes creepy atmospherics, depicting all sorts of strange imagery and a few eyeless ghosts. It doesn’t reveal much, other than the fact that Gordon-Levitt is about to have a very bad time.
Anna Deavere Smith, Jena Malone and Norman Reedus also star.
Pendulum marks Mark Heyman‘s (Black Swan scribe) directorial feature debut.
Darren Aronofsky produced through his Protozoa outfit along with Jacob Jaffke (X, Dream Scenario) for Motel Mojave and Dave Caplan (Longlegs, The Monkey) for C2.
Pendulum is rated R for “some strong/bloody violent content, sexuality, drug use, nudity, and language.”
Said Heyman, “This movie is deeply personal and inspired by my family lore. Shooting it in New Mexico, where I grew up and the real events took place, elevated every scene and made it all the more surreal. Add to that a cast firing on all cylinders, and you have a horror movie I’m immensely proud of and excited to unleash on audiences come the new year. What better way to ring in 2027 than with a freaky head trip?”
Swing Pendulum when the film hits theaters on.
