Elizabeth McGovern Joins ‘Companion’ Director’s Horror Film, ‘Seasons’
Elizabeth McGovern has signed onto the cast of the supernatural horror film ‘Seasons’ from the director of ‘Companion’.
It’ll be Fall soon. And with that seasonal change comes more casting news on the upcoming supernatural horror film Seasons. Deadline reports that Elizabeth McGovern (pictured above in Downton Abbey) has joined the film.
Ron Perlman (pictured above in Nightmare Alley) has joined the cast!
McGovern will star alongside Jack Reynor (Lee Cronin’s The Mummy), Lily James (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) and Ron Perlman (Hellboy).
You have to hear this logline: “It’s the story of a husband and wife who buy their dream ranch, only to discover the land is alive with ancient spirits. For the couple, survival will mean submitting to increasingly disturbing rituals with each turn of the season.”
No word yet on the role McGovern will play.
The film is based on My Wife and I Bought a Ranch, a viral horror short story by Matt & Harrison Query, which first appeared on Reddit and was later adapted into a full-length novel.
Drew Hancock (Companion) directs the film for Amazon MGM Studios.
McGovern makes for a curious addition. The Downton Abbey star hasn’t appeared in many genre titles outside of the Clash of the Titans remake and an episode of Tales from the Crypt. I look forward to finding out what her part in the tale is.
The film is the third collaboration between 21 Laps and Blumhouse Atomic Monster, on the heels of the top-grossing A24 horror Backrooms.
Hancock directs from his own script, with 21 Laps’ Shawn Levy and Dan Levine producing alongside Blumhouse Atomic Monster’s James Wan and Michael Clear, 12:01 Films’ Scott Glassgold, and Dan Cohen. Judson Scott is exec producing for Blumhouse Atomic Monster, with Alayna Glasthal overseeing for the company.
is set to begin shooting in Ireland this September.
