While speaking with Dread Central around the film’s original release, Parker explained that Babyface’s appearance was one of his biggest priorities.
“The look of the killer was important to me,” Parker told us. “I wanted to create a look that would stand alongside all the other iconic faces in horror.”
Babyface wears a cracked porcelain doll mask over his horribly disfigured face, complete with a permanently exposed mouth full of teeth. It’s a simple but fucking fantastic piece of slasher iconography, particularly when paired with the character’s bright red hunting jacket.
Parker and conceptual designer Mike Broom went through numerous ideas while developing Babyface before ultimately circling back to one of Broom’s earliest concepts.
And Parker said something during another 2009 interview that makes this new collectible feel about 17 years overdue.
“I wanted a cool action figure.”
Well, Dave, somebody finally made you one.
Gallactibles Collectors stresses that what we’re looking at right now is only an early prototype with unfinished clothing and promises “more news to come.”
No pricing or ordering information has been announced yet, but the eventual Babyface run is expected to be extremely limited.
