Production is officially underway on Sony’s I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel, announced via the film’s official social media account this morning. With it comes the reminder that the new film is set to release this summer.
The slasher franchise will return to theaters on July 18, 2025.
Plot details haven’t been revealed as of yet, but the original film follows four young friends who are separated by a tragic accident but reunited when they find themselves being stalked by a hook-wielding maniac in their small seaside town.
Freddie Prinze Jr. is confirmed to reprise his role from the original movies. If you need more proof, his wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar, jokingly teased a Scooby-Doo reunion on Instagram when sharing a behind-the-scenes photo from the I Know What You Did Last Summer set. Don’t expect that as confirmation that she’ll reprise the role of Helen Shivers, though.
“I am dead,” Sarah Michelle Gellar flat-out answered when asked if she’d be back in next year’s franchise reboot. But death isn’t permanent in horror, and there could be other ways the actor could contribute to this sequel.
