Elvira Joins ‘R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2’; Premiering October 9 on Tubi [First Look]

The Mistress of the Dark is heading to Redhaven.

Cassandra Peterson, better known to horror fans as Elvira, has joined R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2, with Entertainment Weekly revealing the first images from Tubi’s sequel.

Peterson will play a mysterious witch appropriately named Cassandra, described as being deeply connected to ancient magic and aware of both the dark forces threatening Redhaven and the sacrifice that may be required to stop them.

“R.L. Stine and I have been in the business of scaring kids for a long time, so joining Pumpkinhead 2 was such a treat,” Peterson told EW. “Playing Cassandra was the perfect ‘witchy’ role for me.”

Inspired by R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour, the sequel brings back Sam (Bean Reid) and Becka (Adeline Lo), who must stop a new Pumpkinhead curse from consuming Redhaven. This time, a bullied student named Evan discovers a forbidden book that brings the pumpkin-headed children of past sacrifices crawling out of the earth.

Jem Garrard returns to write and direct following last year’s R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead, which was part of Tubi’s hugely successful “Terror on Tubi” lineup.

And while we’re here, I think we can officially pour one out for the other Pumpkinhead.

R.L. Stine and Tubi have so thoroughly hijacked the name that the original Pumpkinhead franchise we all know and love basically no longer exists in the public consciousness. Even if somebody finally made another movie about the demonic vengeance monster, I’m not sure anyone outside hardcore horror fans would know what the hell they were looking at.

Pumpkinhead belongs to R.L. Stine now.

RIP, big guy.
