New ‘Carrie’ Trailer Pushes a Bullied Teen Past Her Breaking Point

Today, Prime Video unveiled the haunting and heartbreaking official trailer for Carrie, the eight-episode Original series from visionary showrunner Mike Flanagan. All eight episodes of Carrie will be released on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

The official trailer begins to pull back the curtain on the urgent and arresting reinvention of Stephen King’s iconic story, offering a revealing glimpse at how the series expands the world, bringing new depth and complexity to its beloved characters while exploring the forces that shape Carrie White (Summer H. Howell) as she navigates the cruelty and pressure of the modern world — building toward a single, shattering night. But how much do we really know about Carrie — or what happened in Chamberlain?

I like that the new trailer for Carrie makes it look like Mike Flanagan has completely reinvented the story and is giving us something new instead of more of the same. I wasn’t really a big fan of the first footage. Although it looked good, I didn’t think it sold the series very well. But I have to say, this new trailer is pretty fantastic.

It’s very clear that Summer Howell was a great casting choice. I like that she looks and feels younger than the other girls, and the trailer really leans into the manipulation and bullying in a way that feels incredibly authentic. It’s actually kind of heartbreaking to watch just in this trailer alone, so I can’t even imagine what it’s going to be like in the actual series.

It also calls to mind films like The Craft, which I absolutely love, only here, Carrie is the lone “witch” getting her revenge. And that’s another thing: this really feels like it’s setting the stage for a revenge story rather than one night of chaos. It looks like Carrie is going to be giving some comeuppance to several of the girls who bullied her, culminating in the big fire in the auditorium. There’s even a vibe that the fire happens before the end and might not be the actual climax of the story. It’ll be interesting to see how Flanagan tells it.
