Tubi just shared the official trailer for Buzzkill, and this looks like a hell of a good time. The horror-comedy premieres exclusively on the free streaming service Friday, September 25.
Some teen candy for the YA horror fans, this whodunit slasher looks closer to Happy Death Day than Halloween, with a party-girl heroine who needs to keep drinking to solve the murders. The trailer also gives us our first look at the killer and promises there will be blood, with several shots teasing some gore. We’ll see how hard it delivers when the movie hits later this month.
Siena Agudong (Resident Evil), Brec Bassinger (Final Destination Bloodlines) and Aliyah’s Interlude (English Teacher) star as members of a sorority whose festivities turn deadly when they’re trapped with a vengeful murderer. Nora’s drunken memories hold clues to who’s killing her friends, but she can only piece them together when she’s drunk.
Jem Garrard (R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead) directs from a screenplay by Suzanne Keilly (Slumber Party Massacre).
“Nora isn’t your traditional final girl, she screws up constantly and is spectacularly ill-equipped for what’s happening around her, but we never stop rooting for her,” Garrard says. “Siena has incredible comic instincts and brings so much heart to Nora.”
Agudong says Garrard gave her a horror watchlist to prepare for the shoot, with the intention of pushing the genre’s familiar tropes.
“Every day, it felt like we were coming to set just to make a movie that would make us giggle, and now having the film come out, it feels like we are reliving our inside jokes but with a much larger group of friends.”
