This Halloween, the world ends at midnight.
Or so we’re warned in the new poster for The Heretiks, the first feature film produced under our new Be Afraid banner. Ahead of the film’s World Premiere at Fantastic Fest, Collider has debuted the sinister new image. Designed by horror artist Creepy Duck, it features the deadly witches at the center of the premise, silhouetted against a backdrop of a blood-red hand.
Directed by Gregg Bishop (Dance of the Dead, SiREN, “Dante the Great” from V/H/S: Viral), The Heretiks is a Halloween-set home invasion horror film about Cai (Kimberly Epstein), a renegade witch who must protect sisters Ada (Josie Wert) and Mabel (Ava Mae Seidensticker) and their friend Wesley (Luke Speakman, Weapons) from her former coven, led by the sadistic Neve (Tess Williams), who plans to sacrifice Mabel on Halloween night and bring about the end times.
The film was written by Luke Piotrowski and Ben Collins, whose credits include The Night House, Hellraiser and Super Dark Times.
We’ve poured a whole lot of love into this one. The Heretiks is our love letter to the kind of practical, Halloween-soaked ’80s horror that made us fall in love with this stuff in the first place. It’s fun, scary, colorful, and made for a crowd.
Bleiberg Entertainment financed and produced the film, bringing things full circle with Bishop after previously backing Dance of the Dead.
