Halloween season is kicking off with fixed cameras, tank controls, and a house you probably shouldn’t enter.
DreadXP and developer Vincent Adinolfi are bringing Heartworm to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 on October 1, accompanied by a new console announcement trailer.
Taking inspiration from Silent Hill, Resident Evil, and Dino Crisis, the retro psychological survival horror game follows Sam, a young woman whose grief sends her searching online for a connection to the afterlife.
Her search leads to a message board discussing a mysterious house in the mountains. Supposedly, nobody who visits ever returns. Desperate for answers, Sam decides to find it anyway.
What follows combines supernatural horror with a story about the memories we hold onto—and the ones we wish we could forget.
Heartworm embraces the look and feel of early 3D survival horror, with features including:
Fixed cinematic camera angles and low-resolution environments.
A camera used as a weapon, with over-the-shoulder aiming.
Optional tank controls for players craving that classic console experience.
Exploration and puzzle-solving throughout a surreal suburban nightmare.
Pre-rendered and in-game cutscenes, multiple endings, and a haunting original soundtrack.
Already available on PC, Heartworm is now giving console players a chance to investigate what’s hiding in those mountains. Watch the new trailer below.
