‘#VYMARA’ Brings Its Online Horror Mystery Exclusively to AMC Theatres This October

West Key Studios is bringing #VYMARA exclusively to AMC Theatres this October, and we’ve got the trailer for the found-footage horror-comedy below. Limited tickets are on sale now.

The footage has all the fun found-footage tropes, only this time the nightmare unfolds during a livestream, with the creators screaming for help as everything goes to shit. There’s a little The Blair Witch Project homage in there, too, which feels appropriate for a movie that’s been building its own mythology through an online mystery.

Written and directed by Paul Bukoskey, the film follows four washed-up content creators—a feminist true-crime podcaster, a manosphere conspiracy theorist, an internet comedian, and a fashion influencer—who venture into the woods while livestreaming their search for a missing YouTuber.

Their pursuit of views leads them to an ancient cult, a mysterious psychoactive plant, and a conspiracy that extends far beyond what they expected to find.

Ava Westcott, Mason Kokodynski, Reid Robison, and Jenna Karan star, with creator and alternative artist Carrington Bornstein, also known as “swagnightmare,” playing the missing YouTuber.

But the mystery has already been unfolding online.

Two months before announcing the film, West Key Studios launched an interactive alternate reality game across Reddit, YouTube, social platforms, and the cryptic website hashtagvymara.com.

Fictional personas scattered pieces of the story across the internet, inviting participants to decode files, solve ciphers, uncover hidden webpages, and investigate the creatures surrounding .
