Ben Hardy to Lead Amazon’s Series Adaptation of Graphic Novel ‘Stillwater’
Ben Hardy of ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ has been cast to lead Amazon’s series adaptation of the graphic horror novel ‘Stillwater’.
Back in July, we reported that Amazon Prime Video had ordered an eight-episode series adaptation of the Skybound graphic novel Stillwater. Now, Variety reports that Ben Hardy (pictured above in The Conjuring: Last Rites) is set to star!
Created by Chip Zdarsky and Ramón K Pérez, the official synopsis describes the story as: “a mind-bending horror thriller that focuses on ex-con Daniel West. When Daniel receives a mysterious letter promising answers about his past and a substantial inheritance in the small town of Stillwater, he discovers a community where nothing ever ages, no one ever dies, and nobody ever gets out.”
Sounds like a neat place!
The project comes from writers Greg Berlanti and Carly Wray.
Berlanti and Wray are also on as executive producers on the show, with Berlanti doing so via Berlanti Productions. Also executive producing are Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, and Robbie Rogers of Berlanti Productions, along with Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Rick Jacobs, Glenn Geller, and Chip Zdarsky for Skybound Entertainment. Jonathan Gabay also serves as an executive producer. Warner Bros. Television and Amazon MGM Studios will produce.
Said Berlanti and Wray, “We’ve been fans of Ben’s for a long time, and we’re thrilled to get to tell this story together. There’s a toughness to him, but also something incredibly open and soulful underneath it. Daniel needs both. From the moment we saw Ben in the role, it was impossible to imagine anyone else.”
