EXCLUSIVE: Ahead of its October 2 U.S. theatrical release, we have new images from The Influencer Project, the found-footage thriller produced by The Blair Witch Project’s Eduardo Sánchez and Gregg Hale. The film also hits UK and Irish cinemas nationwide on October 16.
Chiara King stars as a fictionalized version of herself, stalked by a masked madman who has become obsessed with her online persona. Inspired by King’s own experiences with stalkers, the film taps into the very real—and terrifying—stalking, harassment, and danger that can come with having a presence on social media.
In the film, King travels to Copenhagen with a documentary crew promising an unfiltered look behind the glamorous business of online fame. But as the cameras and her devoted fans follow her every move, someone else is watching too. When an obsessive stalker begins closing in, the documentary mutates into something far more terrifying, blurring the line between content and evidence, follower and predator, fact and fiction.
King stars alongside Luca Storm, Mike Nybroe, Jazmine Summer, and Alexandre Willaume (Tomb Raider).
Nybroe directs his feature debut from a script he co-wrote with Lars AP and Anders Jon Petersen.
