The first official clip from Victorian Psycho has arrived, offering a taste of Maika Monroe’s (Longlegs, It Follows) very peculiar approach to domestic employment.
Zachary Wigon’s gothic horror movie opens exclusively in theaters November 13, 2026, and we’re big fans here at Dread Central.
The title suggests a Victorian-era take on American Psycho. It’s not quite that, although there’s something similar in how the film introduces us to Monroe’s character, who is pretty much Looney Tunes right out of the gate. She joins a household as a governess, brings her madness with her, and proceeds to tear the place apart.
I quite enjoyed it. It’s quick, witty, funny, gory, and a devilishly good time, as critics like to say. Monroe gets to be wonderfully strange, and this clip gives you a pretty good idea of the vibe. Her character isn’t quite seeing the world the way we see it, and this is one of those early moments when the family starts raising an eyebrow at her behavior.

I’m not alone in enjoying this one. In his Cannes review, Dread Central’s Josh Korngut called it “a vicious, funny, beautifully made swing” and praised Monroe’s performance as a career best. He also singled out Ruth Wilson (The Little Stranger) as a formidable counterbalance to Monroe.
Based on Virginia Feito’s novel, with Feito adapting her own work for the screen, follows an eccentric governess who arrives at a remote English manor. Increasingly strange events leave the household wondering what she’s hiding.
