There’s more going on here than new costumes. HYPEX has shared breakdowns on X of Krueger’s abilities and the Five Nights at Freddy’s bosses, including a mechanic that lets you possess an animatronic.
Freddy Krueger can drag opponents into a nightmare:
According to HYPEX, Freddy’s item combines a three-hit melee attack with an ability that pulls nearby enemies into a shared nightmare. Once you’re inside, players outside it can’t interfere.

You can possess the ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ bosses and survive losing the body.
HYPEX also reports that Freddy and Foxy guard the Pizzeria, while Chica and Bonnie appear at random locations around the map. Knock one down and hold the “Possess” interaction for three seconds to take it over, complete with glowing red eyes.
Possession reportedly grants bonus health and shield, and the other animatronics stop attacking you while you’re one of them. Getting knocked down in that form also gives you another chance: the animatronic collapses, you return to your own character, and you revive on the spot—even in solos.
Getting close enough to possess one comes with a problem, though. HYPEX describes bosses with triple health that speed up once alerted. They freeze when watched from a distance, but if one gets within 10 meters, you’re getting jumpscared.
So while Krueger is pulling players into nightmares, the animatronics are stalking the map and giving players spare bodies to inhabit. That Freddy-versus-Freddy encounter in the trailer could get a lot more complicated in an actual match.
