In the search for the next big horror breakout, Fox Entertainment Studios has acquired the vampiric spec script ‘Bleed the Night.’
You’d better like horror (and if you’re reading this, I presume you do) because Hollywood is going to be chasing the Backrooms and Obsession high in earnest for the next several years. That’s a great thing. In the race to find the next breakout hit, we’re seeing more projects greenlit and optioned than ever before, and the latest batch includes Bleed the Night, a spec script written by scribes Keith Cooper and Zoe Cooper that was recently acquired by Fox Entertainment Studios.
Based on a story by Cooper and Justin Dyck, Bleed the Night “opens with a lonely teenager answering a mysterious ad reading ‘MUST LOVE BLOOD.’ She then meets a charismatic young vampire who offers her the friendship and freedom she’s always craved — turning one summer night in 1994 into a bloody crime spree that tests just how far she’ll go for her first real friend,” per Deadline, which broke the news.
Mark Ankner produces for Mountain Top Pictures along with Adam Goldworm via his Aperture banner (upcoming Grady Hendrix adaptation Horrorstör). Deadline reports that the team is actively meeting with filmmakers and eyeing a Q1 2027 shoot.
Horror fans might know Cooper and Dyck best from Anything for Jackson. In our 2020 review, we wrote, “Anything for Jackson is still a great streaming choice. It is as chilling as its winter setting, so if you’re keen on some Satanist horror this month, go ahead and summon Jackson.”
