The Wheezing Man is back for another round.
Insidious: Out of the Further arrives on digital tomorrow, October 6, and Sony Pictures is celebrating with a deleted scene featuring the creepy ghost from Insidious: Chapter 3.
Out of the Further is sort of the Avengers of horror movies, bringing together familiar haunts from across the Insidious franchise for one crazy movie. Instigating the supernatural reunion is Cyrus, played by Sam Spruell (A House on the Bayou), a cult leader whose influence extends well beyond his own death.
As we previously reported, Cyrus continued recruiting followers after winding up in the Further. Getting those followers into our world is where things become a problem.
In the deleted scene, a young woman hears some old-timey music and heads out to investigate, only to find a little boy in old-fashioned clothing doing a little dance. That’s when the Wheezing Man drops down from above and scares the living shit out of her.
Directed by Jacob Chase (Come Play), the sixth film stars Amelia Eve (The Haunting of Bly Manor) as Gemma, a young mother who discovers she can enter the Further—and bring its inhabitants back with her. Lin Shaye (Dead End) returns as Elise Rainier.
We were fans here at Dread Central, too. In his review, praised as a return to form, putting its cruel, creative approach to scares on par with the franchise’s best.
