Freaky Nikki is coming for Netflix subscribers next.
Netflix has announced that Curry Barker’s Obsession will begin streaming in the United States on November 17, giving anyone who’s somehow avoided this nightmare another chance to find out what we’ve been making so much noise about here on Dread Central.
The film follows Bear, played by Michael Johnston, who uses the mysterious One Wish Willow to wish that his longtime crush, Nikki (Inde Navarrette), will love him. He gets what he wants, but her affection quickly becomes something terrifying. This is one wish you really don’t want granted.
Dread Central gave the film 5 out of 5 in our review from TIFF, calling it “a brutal, expert vision of the next generation of hardcore horror.”
There’s also a funny bit of history behind this arrival. As we reported in September, Barker revealed that Netflix had made an offer to take Obsession straight to streaming before it ultimately landed a theatrical release. Now it’s reaching that audience after getting its chance to scare the shit out of people in theaters.
