“Mind-bending existential horror full of unforgettable imagery and a final act that has fueled decades of discussion.”

“Haunting, enduring, and one of the greatest examples of urban folklore I’ve ever seen.”

“If you haven’t seen this, read nothing about it…a once in a lifetime experience that has proven far more influential on modern horror than anyone realizes.”

“Before Scream, Craven deconstructed the franchise he created to incredible effect.”

“John Carpenter’s apocalyptic masterpiece, and one of the most underrated films of the 1990s.”
Every one of these is a banger and has a spot on my favorites list as well.
Of them, I’m most thrilled to see Carpenter’s In the Mouth of Madness make the cut. Part of his “Apocalypse Trilogy”, the Lovecraftian nightmare combines a brilliant script with an unforgettable performance by Sam Neill that’s overflowing with Carpenter’s trademark atmospherics. It’s a film about how fiction and truth can sometimes flip places, and it only becomes more relevant by the day.
As Flanagan says, In the Mouth of Madness really is one of the most underrated films of the 1990s and should be put on your watchlist immediately if you haven’t seen it.
