Caye Casas’s The Coffee Table delivered on of the darkest, pitch black horror comedies of the year that even shocked Stephen King. Casas revealed today that a Turkish remake of his macabre feature is now in production, with Baskin director Can Evrenol at the helm.

Casas broke the news on social media, revealing that the remake is currently titled Cam Sehpa.

The Coffee Table “follows Jesus and Maria, a couple going through a difficult time in their relationship. Nevertheless, they have just become parents. To shape their new life, they decide to buy a new coffee table. A decision that will change their existence.”

David Pareja and Estefanía de los Santos star as the ill-fated couple, with Josep RieraClaudia Riera, and Eduardo Antuña rounding out the cast.

The horror comedy is currently streaming on Tubi in case you missed it, and Casas is already hard at work on follow up horror movie El Show del Gran Luciferio.

As for Can Evrenol, adapting The Coffee Table sounds like a perfect fit for the director behind Baskin and upcoming revenge horror Sayara, which Daniel Kurland writes “will make horror fans wince from its carnage and applaud its bleak audacity” in his review

Will the Baskin filmmaker somehow top the grim dark insanity of Casas’ film? Time will tell; stay tuned.
